Krishna temple all set for Janmashtami


UDUPI: The famous Udupi Sri Krishna temple is all set to celebrate with religious gaiety and pomp the Sri Krishna Janmashtami and Vittal Pindi (Sri Krishna Leelolstav celebrations) which will be held from August 21 to 22.
Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, Paryaya Shiroor mutt seer Sri Laxmivarathirtha Swami said as part of the festival, a 10-day religious and cultural programme including various competitions, dance, drama, music concerts, religious discourses and painting exhibition have been organized. A folk sports meet is also being arranged on Sunday, he said.
He said 'India in Cow' a documentary on the importance of cows, directed by Vasanth Rao, will be released by the seer on the occasion. On August 21, Janmashtami Day, the Janmashtami competitions will be inaugurated and Sri Krishna Janmashtami awards will also be presented on the occasion. As a special attraction to the festival, world famous drummer Shivamani and his troupe will give their performance on August 22 at the temple precincts.
