Krishna plays mark Janmashtami celebration

LUDHIANA: The members of Laskhmi Ladies Club celebrated Janmashtami during which they put up a performance depicting the life of Lord Krishna, here on Wednesday.

Among the acts presented, the song 'Krishna Krishna' choreographed by Bindya Sood and the 'Raas Lila' of Lord Krishna were thoroughly enjoyed by the women. The fight of Lord Krishna with 'shesh naag' and with Kans were also presented by the club members.

The club members enjoyed two games of tambola and a lucky draw, said Shammi Bindra of Sarabha Nagar, who is the president of Lakshmi Ladies Club. ''The performances tried to give the message that like Lord Krishna, being a king, had helped his poor friend Sudama, similarly, we must follow the same path,'' she said.

Ranu Padam and Ritu Padam of Sarabha Nagar played the role of father and mother of Lord Krishna.

Ranu Kwatra, a resident of Civil Lines, who played the role of 'Yashoda' said she loved performing onstage.

Dugri resident Manju Sethi played the role of 'naag' and 'kans'. ''I'm a devotee of Lord Krishna and I loved being part of the Janamashtami celebrations,'' she said.

Choreographer Bindya Sood, who lives in Haibowal, was very happy with the performances. ''Everybody had trained hard and it showed on the stage,'' she said.
